Australian Mobile Poker

Every player is dealt a hand of five cards, and then bets are placed on whether these will win the round or not. All wagers are placed in a central pot, which is won by the best hand in each round. Each player can choose to check, bet or fold when it is their turn. When betting, they need to place a bet or raise the stakes of the one made by the previous player. The can choose to check if no bet has yet been made, meaning they can stay in the game without making any wager. If they choose not to bet or check, they must fold and forfeit their hand. The tantalising intrigue of mobile Poker and all its other versions lies in the way players all influence each other and influence the game’s final outcome. Every player reads their peers for clues (tells) about how good their hands are and then bets accordingly. Those that are truly skilled read others well but give nothing of themselves away, and can win with terrible hands by causing fellow players to fold.

At the end of a round, all hands are revealed, and winners are determined by a strict card ranking hierarchy. Within this combination hierarchy, an Ace is the highest card and a two (or Deuce) is the lowest. The card rankings are listed below, from highest to lowest.

  • Royal Flush: five sequential cards from the Ten to the Ace, of the same suit
  • Straight Flush: any five sequential cards of the same suit
  • Four of a Kind: four cards with the same rank and one other, such as 5-5-5-5-9
  • Full House: two cards of a one rank and three of another, like 4-4-8-8-8
  • Straight: five cards in sequence, such as 4-5-6-7-8, but not all of one suit
  • Three of a Kind: three cards of one rank and two unmatched others, such as 6-6-6-9-Q
  • Two Pair: two pairs of same-ranked cards and one other, like 4-4-J-J-K
  • One Pair: one pair of same-ranked cards and three unmatched others
  • High Card: this is the lowest possible hand, and simply contains five unmatched cards. The hand is named after the highest card, so one with 4-6-8-J-K would be called a King High

Practice Mobile Poker

A very important aspect of the traditional game is reading the tells that other players reveal, and strategizing accordingly. Online and mobile Poker players can’t do this, and need to look to other clues such as playing speed. There are many online resources to refine skill even more, including software that underlines frequent mistakes, and the opportunity to play and practice for free. Refining online playing skills is very challenging and rewarding, and can ultimately be very lucrative!
